To play Dvorak: Draw five cards each and leave the rest as a draw pile. On your turn, draw a card from the draw pile and play one Thing and/or one Action. (See the full rules.)

Use your strength, cunning and/or equipment to battle through ten levels of a monster-filled dungeon, and escape with the Amulet of Yendor. Based, naturally, on the classic computer game.

Special Rules

Dungeon Levels

Each Player is, at any given time, on a Dungeon Level - a number between one and ten. This should be tracked with a D10, or on paper, or with counters, or somesuch. The player is considered to share that Level with any Monsters that their opponent controls.

Loot and Monsters

If a card says "Play only on Level X", a player can only play it if they are on Dungeon Level X.

If a card says "Play only onto Level X" (typically only for monsters), it can only be played if their opponent is on Dungeon Level X.

Combat

A Player may, as an Action, declare Combat. During Combat, a Player discards any number of Monster cards from their hand to represent their attack's power. The Strength of each discarded card is considered to be a Strike against a chosen Monster in play - if the total of Strikes against a Monster exceed its Strength, it is destroyed. For example, a Cockatrice (2) could be destroyed by discarding an Orc card (3), or by discarding a Bat and a Killer Bees card (1 each).

Staircases

If a Player faces no Monsters (that is, their Opponent controls no Monsters) they may - as an Action - go up or down a Staircase, incrementing or decrementing their Dungeon Level accordingly. Players may not go down from Level Ten.

Equipment

All non-Monster Things are Equipment. A Player may take an Action to discard any amount of Equipment they have in play, unless they have had the "Cursed!" card played onto them.

Wielding

Players may only use a single Weapon during combat.

Brass Lantern

Action: You are granted a wish! Look through the draw and discard pile, and your opponent's hand, putting a card of your choice into your hand. Brass Lantern is then destroyed.
Wand of Invisibility

You may not be affected by Monsters' Actions, or by Traps. Whenever you declare Combat or tread a Staircase, destroy this card.

Opulent Throne Room
Action
Play only on Level 4 or higher. Draw and reveal six cards. Put any Monsters into play under your opponent's control, and discard any Actions.
Lodestone
Thing
Lodestone cannot be discarded normally. You may not play further Equipment cards while Lodestone is in play.
Scroll of Blank Paper
Thing
Action: Destroy this Scroll. Search the discard pile for a Scroll card and put it into play.
Potion of Strength
Thing
Action: Destroy this Potion. Add four to your Attack totals, for the rest of this turn.
Gauntlets of Power
Thing
Add two to your Attack totals.
Ring of Conflict

Action: Destroy a Monster controlled by a Player who also controls a Monster with a higher Strength.
