This is a CCG set, a set of cards which can be used to construct personalised decks, in the style of a collectable card game.
To play Dvorak: Draw five cards each and leave the rest as a draw pile. On your turn, draw a card from the draw pile and play one Thing and/or one Action. (See the full rules.)

Each player controls a Species, and must fight for the continuation of their species.

Special Rules

Objective

A player wins if any of the below are achieved:

  • All other Species are wiped out (when its Population reaches 0)
  • The Species Evolved at least five times
  • The Species becomes Intelligent.

Setup

At the start of the game both players have no Features for their Species in play and have no cards in their hand. Their Species have a starting Population of 500. Players organise a turn sequence and the game begins.

Evolution

A Species may Evolve only if and when the Evolve card is played. When Evolve is played, a player may select a new Feature from his or her hand and put it into play. The player's Species gains the benefit of this Feature on the next turn. You may play Evolve only once every three turns (with two turns in between).

Attacking

Your Species can predate either upon less significant prey assumed to be on the field (such as small insects, mushrooms and grasses) or upon another Species. If you attack another Species, you deal 2d6 damage to that Species's population, and the opponent deals 1d6 damage to your Species. These numbers are changed if you have any Features in play that change your Attacking strength.

Breeding and Dying

In a standard situation, every turn 1d6 new members of the Species are born and 1d6 die. This can be changed by certain cards, for example Desert, which raises the death rate.
