Players control a number of Sims, all of which with certain motives. The player whose Sims outlives all the opponents' Sims is declared the winner.

Special Rules

Sims

Sims have a two letters in the upper-right hand side corner. The first one gives their Aspiration:

  • Wealth
  • Romance
  • Family
  • Knowledge
  • Popularity

The second gives their life:

  • Baby
  • Toddler
  • Child
  • Teenager
  • Adult
  • Elder

Relationships

Relationship cards can be played on Sims which you control and may target any other Sim in play. Each Positive Relationship card increases their relationship by 10, and each Negative Relationship card decreases it by 10.

Wants and Fears

Onto any Sim (including those which you do not control) you may play up to four Wants and up to three Fears. Once played, these Wants and Fears stay there until their requirements are fulfilled or the Sim grows up or dies, or somebody plays a higher-scoring Want or Fear. When this happens, the Want or Fear is put into the discard pile.

Aspiration Points

Each player starts off with zero Aspiration points. If a Want or Fear is fulfilled, the player controlling the Sim will receive an Aspiration bonus or penalty. This bonus or penalty is doubled if the Want or Fear is marked as a Power Want or Power Fear. It is also doubled if it matches the Aspiration of that Sim, giving a total of four times its original value if it is a Power Want/Fear which matches the Aspiration.

You may have a maximum Aspiration score of 50000 and a minimum of -2000. If Aspiration rises above 50000, it is truncated to 50000, and if it falls below -2000, one of your Sims dies and your Aspiration score is reset to -1000.

Aspiration score is given as a colour:

  • 25000 to 50000: Platinum
  • 10000 to 25000: Gold
  • 5000 to 10000: Upper Green
  • 0 to 5000: Lower Green
  • -2000 to 0: Red

Money

Each player starts off with $20000. Players gain $5000 when they play a new Sim. Money can be used to buy Items (see below). It can be earned by Sims who have a job.

Items

If you have Item cards in your hand, you can spend some of your money to play Items. Items give some bonus to your Sims, and most of them require a Sim to use them.

Special Items

Special Items work like Items, except that they are bought using your Aspiration points. They usually give a strong bonus, but have a chance of failure if your Aspiration score is below 10000:

  • 10000 and above: 0% failure
  • 5000 to 10000: 25% failure
  • 0 to 5000: 50% failure
  • -2000 to 0: 75% failure

Death

A Sim may die if:

  • Your Aspiration score falls below -2000. In this case, one Sim which you control dies and your score is reset to -1000. You may choose which Sim dies.
  • The Grow Up card is played on your Elder Sim.
  • An Item causes the death of a Sim.
  • An Action card causes the death of a Sim.
