Any questions or comments? Please leave them for me! I'd love to know what you think!

I read the rules, and there appear to be a few things missing.
  • Overlap for cost Essences: what does it cost? Are there restrictions on what can be overlapped?
  • Combat: how does it work? It it more complicated than "defender takes damage equal to attacker's Strength minus defender's Shield"?
  • Critical hits: how do they work? Is that what you get when you attack and your opponent has no active essence?
  • Attacking with a Lower Strength than your Opponent's Shield: The way it's written, the higher your opponent's Shield is, the more damage you do. For example, if I have an essence with 10 Strength, and I attack an Essence with 12 Shields, I do 1 damage. If the defender has 50 Shields, I do 20 damage. Intentional?

Sorry, haven't been able to check back in a while. I didn't have an internet connection for about a month... lol.

Anyway, I'm going to attempt to answer your questions, though I don't honestly know if what I'm thinking that you're saying is what you're really saying in every instance.

1. I thought this was included, but it may have been left out due to an oversight. The number in the box in the upper-right hand corner of each essence is the cost you must pay. Therefore, those with a cost of 0 require nothing to put into play and so on. This cost must be paid in essences of the same type (or, in the case of a multi-type essence, essences that match at least one of the types printed). Therefore, if you wanted to play Aqua Queen from your hand, but all you had in play was Beetle and Flare Fist, you would not be able to pay the overlap cost required of the card. However, if you have an Ice Wall in play, you could do so. Therefore, in this example, you would place the card "Aqua Queen" on top of "Ice Wall" to show that you have overlapped it.

2. Combat is essentially just what you stated. However, things can get slightly more complicated when you factor in Speed. You may choose to play without Speed for a while if you'd like, just to get the gist of things. Only your active essence can engage in battle, and only with your opponent's active essence.

3. There aren't truly "critical hits" in the essence vs. essence scenario. These attacks are more or less the result of an essence attacking your opponent when he/she has no essences on the field. Three of these attacks claims victory for you.

4. Actually, this was unintentional. I'm currently working on a way to better resolve the issue of super-powerful defenders being practically impervious to damage. If you have any ideas on fixing the matter, please let me know! I'd be more than happy to collaborate and give credit on this subject.

As a final note, I have an expansion set ready, but I'm only gonna post it if you want it to be. I hoped I answered all of your questions sufficiently enough. If not, please feel free to post here again! I'll be checking more often now, so hopefully I'll be able to answer them in a timely fashion. Thanks for your input!
