Summary
The Writer CCG Card Set is a deck designed by Joshua Keezer as part of his 365plus.org web blog.
Prerequisites
All players need to have a deck of at least 40 cards. No more than 4 of the same card can be included in the deck.
Setup
Each player shuffles and draws five cards from their deck. The player with the smallest deck starts. In the case of a tie, the youngest player goes first.
Turns
Each turn, the active player draws one card and plays one card to either expand their current story, market an existing story, or disrupt another player.
Special Rules
A story cannot be published until it contains an Opening, Second Act, and Ending, and at least one Character card. Once a story is published, it can no longer be modified.
A player's current number of Readers is determined by the total points in the upper right "Reader" box plus any modifiers for all of their published stories plus any bonuses or penalties added in from Marketing cards.
Published stories earn +50 Readers if the Opening, Second Act, Ending, and all Character cards are the same genre.
Winning the Game
If any player has over 500 Readers at the end of the current turn, they are the winner. If any player is unable to draw a card at the start of their turn, the player with most Readers wins.
Card List
This cliche story opening is used by fantasy authors everywhere.
The hero doesn't always win.
"But that character died in Chapter 3!"
Is it a Mary Sue if it really happened?
Some characters are better off dead.
