Date 3 January 2008
Players 2+
This is an unfinished deck. It is incomplete, and is not playable.

Dave Wong's psychotic horror novel comes to life in this equally insane game. You play as a fickle Shadow Man, manipulating the protagonists and antagonists for your own ends. Will you slay the vile Korrok, lead him to dominate Earth, unleash Hell in Las Vegas or just go and play Basketball? Only one thing is certain: John will NOT be dead at the end.

Special Rules

Actions

As you have little control over the material realm, the Humans and Monsters you conrol must perform your normal actions for you. When you actually do something for yourself, this is known as a "Shadow Action" and costs a number of Shadow Points equivalent to the number in the corner of the Action card.

Shadow Points

At the start of each turn, each Player gains one Shadow Point. These can be lost or spent in numerous ways. You cannot ever have a negative number of Shadow Points, or more than thirteen of them.

Locations

All Locations played are considered to be held in common, and not the property of any one player. If a card is not on a Location, it is considered to be in the town of Undisclosed. All players may play and control cards in any Location currently in play. If a Location is "adjacent" to another Location, that means that you can spend an Action to move one of your Monsters/Humans between those two Locations. If a Location is "conditionally adjacent" to another Location, that means that you can do the same, but only if certain conditions are met. If a Location is destroyed, so is everyone and everything in it.

Korrok

Korrok is such an important and complex being that all its effects cannot be fully explained on the card. Instead, I will list them here:

.Korrok is considered neither a Monster nor a Human.

.Korrok cannot be discarded from your hand under any circumstances. If you have no choice but to discard Korrok, you must instead reveal it to all players.

.Korrok cannot move normally. It can only travel from Location to Location by using an Action and sacrificing three Doom Tokens. However, it can travel between Conditionally Adjacent Locations as easily as it can Adjacent Locations.

.Korrok cannot be destroyed by any means other than destroying the Location it currently exists in.

Monsters and Humans

Humans will not kill other Humans, and Monsters will not kill other Monsters, unless special circumstances are introduced.

Goals

At the beginning of the game, each Player is allocated a Goal at random, and the rest are shuffled into the Deck. Each Player's Goal is their own, and is only known to them. If a Player has one in their hand on their turn, they can choose to use their Action make that Goal their Goal, and send their previous Goal to the Discard pile. When all the conditions of a Player's Goal are fulfilled, they may reveal their Goal and declare victory.

Origin

Most Things have an Origin. An Origin is the Location they originate from, and thus, the only Location in which they can be played.

Items

Items can only be played onto Humans.
