Dvorak Export: Basic Rules Deck

Instructions

Adjust these settings until the cards fit comfortably, with the correct number per page, in your browser's Print Preview.

When you're happy with the settings, send all but the first page to your printer, and cut the cards out with something sharp. Either stick the results onto cardboard, slip them into deck-protectors with some spare CCG cards for padding, or just play with them as flimsy bits of paper.

Things
Basic Rule
When you play a Thing card, it goes onto the table in front of you and stays there, usually having a useful effect while it remains in play.

Actions
Basic Rule
When you play an Action card, it does whatever it does and goes to a discard pile.

Start of Game
Basic Rule
Take the deck of cards, shuffle it, and deal five cards to each player (which they hold in their hand where other players can't see). The rest of the cards go in the middle of the table as a face-down draw pile.
Starting with a random player, you take turns in order.

Turns
Basic Rule
A turn consists of:-
* Drawing the top card from the draw pile. * Playing up to one Thing and one Action from your hand (or just one of those, or no cards at all). * Checking your hand size; if you have more than five cards, discard down to five.

Discard Pile
Basic Rule
Whenever a card is discarded or destroyed, it goes into a face-up discard pile in the middle of the table.

If you try to draw, but the draw pile's empty, shuffle the discard pile and turn it over to make a new draw pile.

End of Game
Basic Rule
The game continues until somebody meets whatever victory condition the deck has. Some decks have fixed victory conditions by rule, while others have them written on a card - "you win the game if..."

Action Abilities
Advanced Rule
Some cards use "Action:" as shorthand for "Each turn, instead of playing an Action card, you may...", which is called an "action ability", and still counts as an Action for the purposes any other cards that affect or react to Actions being played.
